Project Locations for Marion Street, Approx. CONSTRUCTION Extent
Following the recommendations of both the 2005 Greater Downtown Plan and the 2008 Retail Strategy Report, the Village together with the Downtown Districts Streetscape Steering Committee is embarking on an integrated approach to enhance, upgrade and rejuvenate the Greater Downtown Area through the continuation of the award winning streetscape concept installed on North Marion Street to Martion Street South of the viaduct in 2011. Additionally, our aging infrastructure requires replacement of a century old water and sewer lines, deteriorated surface, roadways, sidewalks and street lighting.
On May 9th, 2011 the Village Board authorized Village Staff to enter into a Guaranteed Maximum Price Contract with Sollitt Construction to complete all necessary infrastructure work, and to install the streetscape applications as presented by the Steering Committee. The contract is not to exceed $5.4 million with the project scheduled to be completed by Mid-November.
